Brooke Shelley
Vocals, Keyboards
Brooke grew up on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales practising Chopin and listening to Europe before moving to Sydney to complete High School at the Sydney Conservatorium, where she studied Piano, Composition and Harpsichord. After becoming fed up with formal composition training, Brooke took time out and worked in an office for a few years, which satisfied her penchant for stationery. She then went to London to do a Masters in Advanced Musical Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London, made possible with the generous assistance of an Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust grant and a St James' Music Foundation scholarship.
During her time in London, Brooke sang in a number of London church choirs, and sang for composers Jocelyn Pook (original score for Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut) and Harvey Brough (Harvey and the Wallbangers, and Field of Blue). Being exposed to the music of Jocelyn Pook and Harvey Brough gave confidence to the idea of merging Early Music and Pop/Rock.
Brooke sings in the Choir of St James' Church, King Street, Sydney, and counts Europe and Joey Tempest as her principal musical influences.
